Admission Criteria |
|
To be considered for NITC's services consumers must meet the following criteria:
- Be age 18 or older unless specific authorization is granted from a regulation body.
- Have a diagnosed serious mental disorder. "Mental disorder" is a clinically significant behavioral or psychologically syndrome or pattern that occurs in an individual and that is associated with present distress or disability or with a significantly increased risk of suffering, death, pain, disability, or an important loss of freedom, as defined by the American Psychiatric Association Diagnostic and Statistical Manual or Mental Disorders (DSM-IV).
- Be willing to participate in the program.
- Be able to benefit from the services provided.
- Have the ability to adequately safely provide self-care and is not a serious threat to self or others.
- Medical needs or psychiatric needs cannot exceed the level or care NITC can provide, as evidenced by a physician's statement.
- Participate in an admission intake interview.
- Have a completed medical examination and psychiatric evaluation within the last 12 months and receive other pre-admission information based on the regulatory requirements for the type of service requested.
- Confirmation of funding for services.
- NITC reserves the right to waive these criteria under certain conditions, which is determined case by case and documented accordingly.
